Replacement Windows

At Gienow and Ply Gem, we have a long history in producing and installing high-quality new and replacement windows for builders and home renovators. Among window companies in Calgary and Edmonton, we have achieved a reputation for quality and ‘word of mouth’ referrals. We’ve worked hard to maintain this by employing expert installers and offering a lifetime warranty on all of our windows.

The Benefits of Replacing the Windows in your Home

Installing new windows in an older home can help increase energy efficiency and utility savings, not to mention improve your curb appeal. In fact, recent research shows that if you’re selling your home, replacing those old foggy windows can boost your resale value by almost 70% of what you’ll invest in new windows.  Whether you are sticking to a strict budget or ready for a full window makeover, our installers have experience with full frame installation and retrofit installation.

The Tell-Tale Signs That Your Windows Need Replacing

Window Replacement Costs

Investing in new windows can be intimidating. This is why Gienow offers free quotes on all of our renovation projects so that our customers are comfortable with their budget and protected from any surprise bills.

There are many factors that can influence the cost of replacing the windows in your home, including the frame material, operating style, glazing or glass chosen and accessories.

During Gienow’s In Home Consultation, our experienced consultants consider your specific needs and budget when suggesting the best exterior products for your home. Our unique design approach ensures that options for windows, doors, and/or siding deliver both function and style.

The Gienow Window Installation Process

With an average price above most Canadian families’ normal spending habits, it’s no surprise that many people are nervous about replacing their windows.

Our experienced Gienow Renovations team will help guide you through what to expect when starting your window replacement project. From our installation service process, quoting replacement costs, to preparing your home for our installers, we will be there to help every step of the way.

Types of Windows and Where To Use Them:

When it comes to choosing the best type of windows for your project, industry terms can sometimes make it sound like builders and installers are speaking a different language. For your reference, we’ve included a basic overview here but if you would like to know more about the feature of each window operation type, give our sales team a call.

Window Industry Terms:

Window Sashes: the sash is the part of the window that holds the glass and the frame around the glass. The sashes are fitted into the frame and can be designed to be stationary or to move.

Picture Windows: Stationary windows that don’t open. The main appeal of picture windows is that they don’t open, they are more efficient and can allow for a much larger window than one that opens. See Picture Window Range

Awning Windows: These types of windows are hinged at the top of the frame and open towards the outside of the house. See Awning Window Range

Slider Windows: These windows slide to open. Slider windows can come in a variety of styles: horizontal sliders (that go from left to right), single hung slider-style that lift up and down, or double siders in which both of the sashes can move left or right. This type of window gives you the advantage of controlling air-flow throughout your home. See Slider Window Range

Bay and Bow Windows: These are the ‘show-stoppers’ of the window world. The bay window is made up of three windows, usually with a large centre window with two angled windows on each side, whereas a bow window is more than three glass windows and has a curved appearance on the outside of your home. See Bay and Bow Window Range
