Casement Windows

Casement windows are a style of window that’s hinged at the side and open outward like a door.

This style of window is ideal for both its energy efficiency and its picture-window esque clean sight-lines. While some casement windows can be pushed open, more expensive models will have a hand crank.

Common Uses for Casement Windows

While there are no limits on where you can use a casement window or in what combination, they are common above kitchen sinks or in basements. Since casement windows have a hinged sash that swings free and clear, they are an ideal window style for an emergency exit (otherwise known as an egress window).

The casement window style also allows for the greatest amount of ventilation. Unlike other window styles like slider windows, which only allows for half the window to open and provide ventilation, the casement window fully swings out, giving you the largest height/width allowance for fresh air/ventilation.

Casement Windows for Energy Efficiency

Opens out and the top performing windows against snow, wind and rain. Contemporary styling and convenience in one package. They open and close easily with the simple turn of a handle and offer clean sight-lines with an unobstructed view.

The casement window style is one of the best selling styles of windows on the Canadian market. They are also the most energy efficient and practical to use.

One of the reasons casement windows are so energy efficient is because of their compression seals. These seals are attached around the edge of the moving sash, ensure that the unit is airtight when closed and doesn’t leak air out or allow drafts in.
